March Brown Wet
The March Brown is one of the oldest and most storied wet fly patterns in fly fishing — a classic that has been producing trout on both sides of the Atlantic for centuries. Tied to imitate the March Brown mayfly (Maccaffertium vicarium in North America, Rhithrogena germanica in Europe), this wet fly is designed to be swung through the current to imitate a drowned dun or an emerging nymph swimming toward the surface. The soft hackle and swept wing breathe and pulse with lifelike action on every swing, creating the impression of a struggling, vulnerable insect that trout find irresistible during early spring hatches.
