Chernobyl Ant
When trout are looking up but there is no clear hatch to match, the Chernobyl Ant gives you a versatile terrestrial-style attractor to search the surface. Its buoyant foam body and rubber legs combine a substantial silhouette with movement, making it a useful option along grassy banks, through broken currents, and around pocket-water holding spots. Rather than committing to one exact insect, it offers a general impression of the hoppers, beetles, and other terrestrials trout encounter near the water.
Start with a drag-free drift along bank-side seams and through the softer pockets behind rocks. Let the current move the rubber legs naturally, then try an occasional subtle twitch if fish follow without taking. In slower pools or along lake margins, place the fly ahead of likely feeding fish and give it time before adding movement. Warm-weather terrestrial activity is a good reason to reach for it, but a careful presentation matters just as much as the fly you choose.
The expanded selection gives you different color combinations in sizes 8 and 12. Size 8 is available in Tan/Black/White and Tan/Black/Green; size 12 comes in Tan/Black/Yellow, Red/Black/Yellow, and Yellow/Black/White. Choose the combination that suits your conditions and is easiest for you to track, keeping in mind that each colorway has its own listed size.
