glo-bug-red-dot
Glo Bug Red Dot

Glo Bug Red Dot

When trout are feeding on eggs drifting with the current, an egg imitation gives you a useful alternative to your regular insect patterns. The Glo Bug Red Dot adds another option to that subsurface selection, with yellow and pink choices in sizes 10, 12, and 14. That range lets you compare colors and adjust fly size while staying with an egg-focused presentation.

Fish it on a natural dead drift through current seams, runs, and softer feeding lanes. Set your indicator depth and rig weight to reach the fish without continually dragging the bottom, then mend carefully to keep the fly moving with the current rather than swinging across it. Watch for subtle indicator pauses and changes in direction, and cover the run methodically before changing flies.

Start with the size that best suits the eggs you are trying to imitate, then compare yellow and pink while keeping your presentation consistent. Where two-fly rigs are permitted, pair the Glo Bug Red Dot with a nymph to offer both an egg and an insect profile. Around seasonal spawning activity, focus on feeding fish away from active spawning beds and avoid wading through redds.

Pattern Details

Style: Egg imitation, Red Dot pattern

Colors: Yellow, Pink

Best water: Trout rivers and streams, especially current seams, runs, and subsurface feeding lanes

Techniques: Indicator fishing, controlled dead drifts, and egg-and-nymph rigs where permitted

Sizes available: 10, 12, 14 in both colors

Keep the Glo Bug Red Dot in your egg-pattern lineup for flexible color and size choices, and let a clean drift carry it naturally through the feeding lane.
