caddis-pupa-chartreuse
Caddis Pupa Chartreuse

Caddis Pupa Chartreuse

Caddis activity does not always mean trout are looking up. Before and during a hatch, fish can stay below the surface feeding on pupae moving through the water column. The Caddis Pupa Chartreuse gives you a bright alternative to more subdued caddis colors, making it a useful addition when you want to change the look of your presentation without abandoning the insect trout are feeding on.

Start with a controlled dead drift through riffles, seams, and runs, adjusting your depth to reach feeding fish. Fish it beneath an indicator or pair it with a natural-colored nymph in a two-fly rig to compare responses. As caddis activity builds, try allowing the fly to rise gently at the end of the drift to suggest an ascending pupa. Available in sizes 10 and 12, it gives you two options for matching your presentation to the water and the insects you encounter.

Pattern Details

Style: Caddis pupa nymph

Color: Chartreuse

Best water: Trout rivers and streams, especially riffles, seams, and runs

Techniques: Indicator nymphing, two-fly rigs, and a gentle lift at the end of the drift

Sizes available: 10, 12

Keep the Caddis Pupa Chartreuse alongside your natural-colored caddis patterns for a bright change of pace when trout are feeding beneath the surface.
